So far eight districts in Bihar and 26 districts in Assam have been affected by floods, and as the number continues to rise, victims of the floods need to be provided immediate and effective relief.
In the current situation with the spread of COVID-19, people are finding it difficult to access the usual institutions providing relief camps or are themselves hesitant to stay there. They are also finding it challenging to access the relief usually expected during such crisis and facilities other than food are becoming more difficult to access as the attention of the government agencies is diverted to addressing issues related to the pandemic.
ActionAid Association (AAA) is responding to the Assam and Bihar Floods and has teams on the ground that have been working to assess the situation and help victims. With the experience of having responded to Bihar Floods since 1994, floods in Assam for more than a decade and numerous other disasters across the country, AAA is best equipped to respond to the situation.
