As I walked into my classroom filled with my chirpy kids, I couldn’t help but notice my otherwise energetic Rahima perched in one corner of the classroom, heads down. Assuming that it would be because of some silly fights that she had picked up with her friends, I walked towards her, just to have a small chat as my class settled down.
Whatever I gathered from what Little Rahima told me, wasn’t comforting at all. Turned out that her father was suffering from a medical condition. He had undergone a surgery in the local government hospital where they inserted a prosthetic hip to cure his ailment. Due to low quality of the implant, it developed a crack, due to which her father is suffering from excruciating pain every day. Being the sole breadwinner of the family bedridden, his wife and two kids are clueless about how to fend for them now.
Yes, these kind of situations have never risen in my life, so I, for a fact know that, the gravity of this problem is way more than what I can possibly anticipate. The prosthetic hip needs immediate replacement and going back to the same government hospital means many more months of waiting. Private hospitals would cost much more than what this little girl and family can afford.
Yes, of course this is a cry for help to all of you out there who is reading this. Monetary help is the easiest thing that you could do for her and her dad who is in agony. It doesn’t matter where you are, or what you do. I don’t expect you either to relate to this. But if you can, please help me raise funds for this surgery.
After all, my little Rahima can stop worrying about these big issues in her life and go back to her silly little world of homework and laughter and friends and chocolates.
