    from New Delhi, Delhi

Tax benefits for INR donations will be issued by Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation

Dear Supporters, We started the campaign to help children orphaned due to COVID -19 with foresight for the need for funds. You have been extremely gracious in contributing to the cause and we are touched by the participation of 420 people in this. We are also overjoyed to announce that the governments of Delhi, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh have provided government grants for tackling this cause. Given the majority of this fund was supposed to be utilized for tuition fees which will now be reimbursed, the accumulated funds of INR 20 lakhs will be used for long-term support of these children as well as immediate non-school needs (books/internet/school uniforms, etc.). We are reducing the target in guidance from the beneficiary NGO (KSCF). We shall provide proof of utilization and deployment as and when the Chhaaya Education Fund gets utilized. Regards, Medha. (Campaign Organizer)

A couple of us (SRCC alumni, ex-consultants) have collaborated with Kailash Sathyarthi Children's Foundation for a fund collection drive for supporting orphaned children who have lost both their parents to COVID-19.

The Foundation has already identified 22 such instances through their national helpline. We expect to support the education of 80 kids for one year in the first phase and we will expand the coverage based on funds raised. While the foundation will take care/identify NGOs who will take care of food, shelter, and other necessities of the children, the funds raised here will be used to ensure good education and development for these kids. We intend to conduct such annual campaigns to cover education costs till they reach the age of 18.

The funds will be used for educational expenses (fees, books, stationery, extra-curricular activities) so that they can flourish in their respective choice of careers. Our target fundraise is INR 171.2 lakhs. We expect to partner with schools and ed-tech startups to minimize per child spend and maximize coverage.

Our plan of action is attached below, and publicly available. An estimate of annual education expenses is also given in the same.
