My name is Purna Sinchuri, age:67 years, resident of small village-Gauri Shankar – 8 Dhura , which is located in remote area of Darjeeling. I am having only daughters who are married and residing with their own families. I am physically handicapped with 50 % disability in left leg (Congenital disability of left hip). Now, with increasing age, I am becoming weak and cannot do the work of labor nature which I used to do earlier to earn my livelihood. To add woes to my life, I am suffering from Hypertension and Heart ailments (ischemic heart disease) due to old age. My old aged wife too suffers from hypertension and cannot support me in any manner. I didn’t have house to reside and lives in rented hut which is just enough to protect me from cold waves and chilling weather of Darjeeling.
I have worked hard throughout my life and never made my disability overcome my way. But now, I am left with no option but to do a job as per suitable to my age. I want to start school van which can carry students to school from their home and back. For this, I want to buy a new van or a second hand van. I can drive vehicle on my own. Only this way, I can earn money to pay for my rented house, buy medicines for my disabilities –Hypertension and Heart Ailments and for my wife. Only then can I will be able to stand against the odds of life and would not have to beg in this old age. Any contribution will be highly valuable towards me and my wife’s life.
