Story

As the second wave of COVID-19 ravages India, the demand for medical infrastructure is under dire stress. This calls for immediate collective action to mobilize the creation of alternative health and recovery centers. Anant National University is playing a crucial role in setting up these alternative COVID-19 recovery centers in different states across the country.

The COVID-19 pandemic response is for all like-minded people willing to come together to fight the gloom and doom scenario and work towards lifting the public spirit in Punjab. Since May 2020, our coalition of partners led by Sustain Labs has made 13 COVID care centers and hospitals across 5 states in India.

What are we doing?
We are setting up affordable COVID-19 recovery centers in Punjab. These recovery centers will be equipped with cost-effective furniture made from corrugated boards. Furniture including beds, bedside tables, and separators, will be provided at each center. This furniture is cost-effective, easy to transport, and quick to assemble. The furniture has a lamination film which makes it water-resistant and easy to disinfect. The cardboard separators allow patients isolation and dignity in large halls. The furniture is designed and manufactured in collaboration with Avant-Garde Design Studio.

Once the facility setup has been established, it will be handed over to the local government body to manage. This center will help healthcare workers provide necessary medical support to more patients and segregate between mild and moderate cases.

What are the costs?
The recovery center setup consists of laminated corrugated board beds, bedside tables, separators along with pillows and mattresses. The total cost for all centers is  75,00,000 INR. This includes the cost for material, manufacturing, transportation, and assembly of furniture on site. The rates of procurement are basis bulk orders placed with our suppliers.
