A Heart Patient for 15 yrs- This Boy Has Only 2 Days For A Transplant

“It had been just 2 weeks after my son Pavan's major heart surgery. After a long time our entire family was together, having dinner. But right after his dinner, to our horror, my child started throwing up. My husband, Chandra and I rushed him to the hospital. Doctors said his liver was damaged. We had no clue that his liver was affected. His condition is so critical now that if a liver transplant is not done in the next 2 days, we will lose him,” - Nirmala, 15-year-old Pavan’s mother.

15-year-old Pavan has undergone 2 major heart surgeries

When Pavan was just a baby, he was diagnosed with a hole in his heart He underwent his first heart surgery when he was just 3 years old.  When Pavan grew up, it was found out that his heart wasn’t strong enough to give him a long life. He underwent another major heart surgery in August 2018.

Within 15 days of his heart surgery, young Pavan was diagnosed with acute viral hepatitis- inflammation of the liver. This has resulted in liver damage. A liver transplant is the only way to save him and he needs it in the next 2 days.

“My son is in class 10. While all his friends are appearing for exams, he is lying on the hospital bed. We don't know how we will be able to get him out of here. He always wanted to be a police officer. He often told us that he’ll bring about change in the society. Now as he lies there, waiting for his transplant, I am scared for him.” Nirmala

Young Pavan has just 2 days' time to get a transplant

Due to his weak heart, Pavan never had the opportunity to go out and play. He has always been a mere spectator while his friends played cricket. His parents tried very hard so that he doesn’t feel left out. Pavan never complained about anything. But now when he got to know that his liver is damaged and he’s running out of time, he completely broke down. He asks his parents every day, ‘why I have to suffer always?’ But sadly, even his parents don’t have an answer to that.

After exhausting everything over the last 15 years, poor parents have nothing left to save their son

Pavan's father, Charan works in a private company and earns Rs 20,000 a month. He has continuously spent most of his earnings for his son’s treatment. He had to spent Rs 4.5 lakhs for the heart surgery. Now, he has to arrange Rs 18 lakhs for his son’s liver transplant. With his minimum income, he has tried his best to keep his son alive. Now without help, Nirmala and Charan will lose their son. They have nothing left to save him.

How you can help

15-year-old Pavan has been suffering since his birth. After battling a heart disease for 15 years, when he finally thought that he could live like any other teenager, his damaged liver is killing him. His parents have exhausted everything in these years. He needs help to stay alive now.

Dear Supporters,

We'd like to thank you for the wonderful support that you have shown towards Pavan. It means a lot to all of us. However, we have some news to share with you today.

Pavan was admitted at Rainbow Children's Hospital with acute viral hepatitis and acute liver failure. He needed a liver transplant for survival and the campaign was started to fund the same. However, Pavan's parents do not wish to go ahead with the liver transplant due to their personal reasons, and therefore, Pavan will not be undergoing the transplant.

We do find it challenging that occasionally patients or their parents withdraw their consent for treatment even after funds are raised, but we do respect their decision.

Our prayers and wishes are with Pavan and his family. Following is the letter attached from the treating doctor Dr Prashant Bachina. You may get in touch with them if you require any further information.

All the funds will be utilized for his medical expenses so far. We want to thank you all for your support and generosity.

Regards,
Obaidhulla
