    Menstrual Hygiene For Underprivileged Women

    from New Delhi, Delhi

Story

Hello there!
I, Preet kaur a student of Delhi university got to know about a NGO who work on various projects helping needy people so I decided to  start working with that NGO named Hamari Pahchan as a Volunteer and have witnessed various problems that society has been going through. My goal is to let every women sleep peacefully or work without any distraction”
The main reason why indigent people are not aware about mensuration hygine is Illiteracy, poverty and lack of awareness are the major reasons behind menstruation still being a taboo in the Indian society.Discrimination against menstruating women is widespread in India, where periods have long been a taboo and considered impure.
Millions menstruating adolescents inIndia experience menstrual dysfunctions, affecting their normal daily chores. cases of cervical cancer deaths are reported every year from India, two-third of which is due to poor menstrual hygiene.
Period’s poverty and stigma affects millions of women in India and around the world.

Many states have a tax on period solutions because they are considered “nonessential” goods. Women living in poverty may have to choose between buying food for their children and buying period products, while girls may miss school while on their periods.
Women don’t have a choice in having a period it’s a natural biological process.

The survey results indicate that 64 percent of the women polled couldn't afford to purchase period products during the previous year, and 21 percent of them faced these difficulties on a regular basis.
“The cost of menstrual products may cause some to believe that daughters and economically burdensome”
However, one of their projects has greatly inspired me, and I have decided to lead it 'SUKHAD' is the name of the project. We will help them (underprivileged women) spend their periods comfortably with proper means and information under this initiative.
Providing sanitary pads, educating them on proper menstrual hygiene, and raising awareness that 'periods' and discussing them is not a taboo topic, but rather a normal method.
स्वस्थय को है बचाना तो हर औरत को है पैड इस्तेमाल मे लाना
We are also conducting distribution drives every week where 'Sukhad Kit' is distributed which includes pads, soap, paper envelopes for disposal, and other essential items.
हमारी पहचान बना रही है महिलाओ को सशक्त
Project sukhad is the need of the hour and we all need to unite for the cause.
WE ARE PLANNING TO DISTRIBUTE AROUND 50K SUKHAD KITS TO UNDERPRIVILEGED WOMEN throughout the year.
Per kit price:
Sukhad kit for 1 woman = Rs. 1,400/-
Sukhad kits for 5 women = Rs 7,000/-
KIT INCLUDES 24 packets of the sanitary pad 6 packets of soap Disposable paper envelopes. I respectfully request that you all donate to this cause. Even a single penny makes a significant difference.
