Help US Build A Home For Acid Attack Survivors

"When dreams die, they do not make much noise. When hopes are crushed, the signs are soundless."

Acid corrodes gently. Eating away at her skin, bones and her dreams. The rest of her life begins now. A battle against unending, excruciating pain, deformity, social negligence, ostracisation and an invisible justice system. When a girl is attacked by acid, she is also relegated to the fringes of society, consigned to its dark recesses. Often, forced to hide away from society.
It is these faces that Chhanv Foundation and Stop acid attacks attempts to bring to light, from behind the veil, neglect and fear. Stop Acid Attacks is a call, a campaign against the brutality of acid violence. When we launched on March 8th, 2013, a determined resolve to bring these unseen, unknown stories to the fore, guided us.
Chhanv Foundation works as a bridge between survivors and the society, as the two come to stand isolated from each other when a girl is attacked with acid. The foundation provides them urgent and adequate medical and legal aid, and rehabilitate them by finding alternate sources of income. It also connects them with potential donors and supporters for these urgent needs. Most significantly, the organization's endeavor is to motivate and strengthen the survivors. To reassure them that confidence can be the spring in their step, and faith can fuel their dreams.

About Laxmi:

Laxmi is the director of Chhanv Foundation, an NGO dedicated to helping the survivors of acid attacks in India. Laxmi received a 2014 International Women of Courage award by US First Lady Michelle Obama. She was also chosen as the NDTV Indian of the Year

Dear Friends,

Thank you for all your love towards the cause. Sheroes Home is successfully continuing its operations. Recently it hosted a few new acid attack survivors. A orphan girl Roshni, attacked by acid by her neighbour back in 2016 & lost the vision of both the eyes, had a surgery in Lucknow in August 2018. Our team reached out to her & took her to Sheroes Home, where she has been provided with the healthy & hygenic environment so that she could recover speedily.

Similarily a young girl Nirupma from Guwahati, a survivor of acid attack was supposed to have the ear surgery at Apollo Hospital New Delhi, has arrived Sheroes Home on 1 Sep 2018 alongwith her mother & had her surgery on 6th Sep. After the treatement she has provided accommodation at the center & been taken care.

Ritu, who is also taking care of the Sheroes Home, has undergone the knife for the lower neck surgery at Apollo Delhi on 4th Sep 2018. She has also been assisted financially for the same.

We are also looking forward to reachout to more survivors to bring them to mainstream & provide them healthy environment at Sheroes Home. For the old survivors we have various training programs in the pipeline. Probably in the next month we would have another training program.
