Ashim Saha, 52 years old, my high school maths teacher was diagnosed with an advanced form of cancer and is currently undergoing treatment at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. We - some of his former students -  are raising funds for his treatment.

Ashim Sir, as he is fondly called, has been one of the most prominent teachers at Army Public School(APS) Shillong. He has taught several batches of students in his career spanning over three decades.

He has been managing his family with the only source of income being his compensation as an educator. It is unfortunate that he is not covered by either an employer or a personal Insurance plan. As one might imagine these are difficult times for the family.

I appeal to folks in my social circle particularly the APS fraternity to contribute towards Ashim Sir's treatment. This fundraiser should not just be seen as an act of charity but viewed with a sense of pride and commitment we have towards our beloved teacher who helped shape most of our formative years.

Ashim Sir is receiving chemotherapy and operating procedures for 4th Stage Renal Carcinoma at the Tata Memorial Hospital. The proceeds will be used for treatment and overhead expenditures of the family for staying in Mumbai.
