82-year-old Saraswathi spent all her life tending to her home and husband in Palakkad, at Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. They had no children, however, and when her husband passed away, she had no family to call her own. At her age, she needed a safe place to live, where reliable people would care for her, providing food and medical attention when needed. She made her way to Sevalaya, and is grateful for all the facilities the place has to offer.
The most beautiful thing in the world is to see your parents smile and knowing that the reason behind it is you. Portea celebrated #HealWithLove last March to help 70 senior citizens of the country get free lifetime medical care.
When we travel back in time, we always wonder at how the elders skirted so many obstacles for us. Portea created an opportunity to share love and respect with people who have influenced and impacted many young lives. By providing healthcare for the elders of your own family, you can cover the medical expenses for a destitute senior citizen!
The donation from Portea reached the senior citizens of Sevalaya, a 26-year-old charitable trust in Chennai with services in and around the remote Kasuva village in Thiruninravur district. The organization is professionally managed and is governed by a Board of Trustees drawn from industry with a deep commitment to social development. The Vision of Sevalaya is “to serve the rural poor and transform them for an equitable, happy and fulfilled society with an improved quality of life.”
