Hi All ,
I am Sanjana Sunder, out of Chennai (India) studying in Grade XI. I am reaching out to you all to help me accomplish a passionate cause that is close to my heart.
My introduction to books was at a fairly young age and I have gotten enchanted by them. Books and the written word have played an important role in shaping my life. I used to have a feeling that I belonged nowhere, but when I read those stories through the world of books, the magical pieces of writing transformed me into those realities making me feel alive.
Being a bookworm, the urge to spread this habit to kids who have little access to such adventure became important to me. So, to develop the same passion amongst those who are less fortunate and to open their world of imagination this initiative has been started.
Defining Moment
Last year while volunteering at an orphanage, I was rudely awakened to the fact that access to books and knowledge which I used to take for granted was not available to kids in that orphanage. This thought kindled my fire and motivated me to initiate this cause for giving books to those who are less privileged.
What is this initiative ?
With this initiative, I believe in making a meaningful contribution to provide books for those who have been deprived of this pleasure due to their unfortunate circumstances.
Everyone has a right to read and I strongly believe that those of us who are like minded coming together can make this happen.
Personally, I have started off by donating my own books toward starting a small library at a local orphanage and for children who are studying in a local Government School.
What will the funds be used for ?
The funds generated would be used in setting up libraries with both fiction and non-fiction books in various languages for the children to read and have fun.
The funds raised through this initiative will be used to buy books as well as basic infrastructure such as bookshelves for the schools/orphanages which have agreed to participate in this initiative. Also, if you would like to donate children's books and bookshelves, please let me know as well.
I would like to request all your help to expand this initiative to other schools and orphanages as well.
