The longest bicycle journey in a single country (30,000km in 9 months)
My name is Aftab Fairidi and I have been working with Decathlon as a cycling sport leader and workshop technician in Delhi for the last 2 years. Within these 2 years, I have made a healthy and loving space in the hearts of many users and team mates, I have even been appraised by our Country Leader Steve Dykes for my work and One of my Raving Fan gifted me a cycle worth Rs. 95,000 to pursue further after seeing my passion towards cycling. The truth is, I am passionate about cycling and I love to share this passion with others around me. My cycling journey started in 2009 and since then I have done many solo races, road championships, triathlon and real time trials, here are some of my most significant achievements:
· 4th place in Thaar 210 km completed.
· 1st place Time Trial 30 KMs in Cycling Association of Delhi (Regd.) 2015-16.
· 1st place Ordinary cycling man Category in Cycling Association of Delhi 2014-15.
· DESERTS 500 ULTRA CYCLING ,completed 250 KMs in 11hrs 40minutes in 2012.
I have a dream to complete a tour of India covering ~ 30,000km in ~ 9 months (~1000km in every state), this would be a record covered by the The Guinness Book Of World Records. Throughout the Tour, I would like to convey a message about our soldiers who stay away from their families, social life and the life of their own for the benefice of our nation and people. Disciplined to stand in snow, heat, rain or barren lands, I want to live this Tour as a Soldier to pay tribute to them.
