Name: Sagayarani
W/o: Antony Raj
Children: one (female) Sagayarani, who was married to Antony Raj 4 years ago, has been physically challenged since birth. Orphaned at a very young age, she and her 5 sisters were supported and cared by their brother, a hard working coolie. After marriage, Antony Raj was the bread winner and Sagayarani managed their family of three with his wages until the devastating “Oki cyclone” which wreaked the whole of Kanyakumari. Sagayarani lost her husband to the catastrophic cyclone, leaving her and her daughter helpless. Though her brother took her in out of love and pity, the wages of a coolie is not helping. “What would you require to secure your future apart from money?” we asked her. Though she has been absolutely wreaked due to a series of unfortunate events, she mustered a bit of will to respond. “I’m physically challenged; I might probably never be able to work, please help me in either funding for my daughter’s education or please help my brother by getting him a proper boat, as maybe he’ll have to take me and my daughter in for a long time” she requested with tears brimming. The price of a proper boat would be over Rs200000 (2 lakhs). If we could deposit a minimum amount as an advance and help him get the boat, he probably would be able to finish the full payment through his hard work. Moreover, Sagayarani’s daughter’s education is also at stake. The boat will be registered in Sagayarani’s name, considering any ill fates that could happen in the future. She could then hire someone to work for her; that way, she could be financially independent. If you wish to help her, please help us, which in turn will help her. Let us join hands in collecting a minimum of Rs500 or Rs1000 from places as far as we can reach. “A small step today will help her to unfurl her dream and break this nightmare that has tried to engulf her” Let’s join hands to bring them ashore.
