Roti Kapda Foundation (RKF) was formed almost 2.5 year ago to address this issue by providing primary schooling and one proper meal free of cost. Since inception RKF has been working on sites with slum colonies of labourers engaged in construction. With parents busy with work the whole day, the kids need to be taken care and engaged productively. RKF runs a crèche for infants at the site along with a school for children aged 5 – 15 years. The school follows approved government curriculum with the objective of gradually integrating the students in the mainstream schools. The education is completely free along with school bags, books, notebooks, stationery and even school dress.

Simultaneously, RKF also provides one complete and nutritious meal daily to almost 300 children every day for 365 days. There has not been even a single day of break in this activity since it was started in 2017. The food that is provided is cooked daily and served hot taking proper care of quality and hygiene. All the children have been provided with steel utensils to eat food in; this ensures cleanliness by avoiding daily garbage of disposables and clean personal set of utensils for every one.

Presently the educational and crèche activity is being implemented with institutional support. RKF solicits funds to support its initiative to feed the children. At an estimated cost of INR 20 per head per day, a month’s  fooding and education would require a fund of INR 400,000/- and 3 month's expense require INR 12,00,000/-
