I am fundraising to help my brother to fight Bone Marrow Ailment

My elder brother, Nitin Kumar is 32 years old and has been diagnosed with Pure Red cell Aplasia Parvo virus (PCR + Ve) in Bone Marrow which causes severe Anemia. He has to undergo blood transfusion on regular basis. The estimated cost for treatment is approximate 3 to 4 lakhs.

Currently he is undergoing treatment in Medica Superspecialty Hospital,Kolkata.

History of Illness:

He had been diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome (Rare Kidney Disease) at the age of 13 yrs and was taking the treatment for the same in CMC Vellore for the last 17 yrs.

His kidney failed in November 2013 and was on dialysis for 1 year.

He underwent Kidney Transplant in March 2015 in Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Kolkata.

He has no medical insurance.

Regular expenditure on his treatment costs around 13000-14000 Rs per month(includes medicine cost post renal transplant ).This expenditure adds up on regular blood transfusion and tests prescribed by doctor.

Family Background:

We are a middle class family from Gomia,Jharkhand, with five members in family

Father has been retired from Pvt Company.

Mother is homemaker

Sister is married

We have managed in treating him from last 19 years and now we are in a great financial crisis as all our savings have been already spent on his treatment. We need your support to save his life.

I have not lost hope and have decided to try to any extent for my brother’s life. I rely on all of you to help me out in this financial crisis. During this tough emotional breakdown where every moment is very hard to pass by, I rely on you all with immense faith that you all will help me in the nth hour. Dear Supporters,

I am Sudhakar, a Milaap Open fellow in Bengaluru. I spoke to Sachin, the champion of the campaign and Nitin’s brother.

Nitin has recovered slowly after the renal transplant. Over the last few months, he has been in a much better condition, and is currently under medication post renal transplantation which will go on, until discontinued by the doctor.

One of the more important levels to be monitored is the haemoglobin level, which was earlier at 5.4 gm/dl is now at 9.9 gm/dl (report below). The normal range is, however, 13.5 - 18.0 gm/dl. While it has reduced, there is still quite some way to go before it gets restored to normal. He needs to visit Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Kolkata every 3 months for routine tests and visit the doctor, in case of  any changes in treatment or medication.

Sachin has become a believer of karma after he raised funds for his brother’s treatment on Milaap. He says, “I donated a small amount towards Chennai floods on Milaap last year. And when my brother was in need of funds, I started a campaign on Milaap and I got a tremendous response. I thank all the contributors for their valuable donation.”
