When covid struck no one had any idea what to do. Even the government needed time to decide there next action w.r.t the pandemic. Hence a short term lockdown was declared. At first everyone thought that this lockdown will last for maximum two months. But after the frequent announcements by the government to extend the lockdown people of every social strata started facing their own difficulties. The upper middle class started receiving a cut in their salary due to the loss their company was facing. The lower middle class also faced the same situation at their work place along with an extension of their work hours. It's true that all the sections of the society were affected. Every single one of them had their own problems. But the most worrisome was the below poverty line section. While the upper middle class, lower middle class and the rich have savings in their bank accounts to support them the lower class (people below the poverty line) don't have either bank accounts or don't know the concept of saving. Most of them are labourers and live a hand-to-mouth life. Since they don't have any savings the maximum they can do is find places to work. But a major problem of the pandemic was that employment opportunities which were already less had decreased further. Consequently they started living on the streets. This is the reason why Hamari Pahchan NGO puts more emphasis on people who are below the poverty line.
Hamari Pahchan NGO has taken up the initiative to prepare for such a spontaneous situation. This organisation is teaching vocational skills to various men and women across many slums of Delhi since 2015. After covid Hamari Pahchan NGO has taken active participation in the initiative of Vocal for Local under the same we have provided vocational training to 1200 women providing them with the opportunity to earn their livelihood. Hamari Pahchan NGO has sold those products made by underprivileged women across the globe.

Under the skill development project we organise skill development workshops for women living in slum area. Maximum of them are unemployed and are struggling financially as well. To make them self reliant, we provide them with trainer who provide them with training, raw material (basic equipments) to learn how to make hand made products and counselling on how they can acquire different set of skill in order to earn their livelihood.
Those underprivileged women shall be provided with an opportunity to earn a living by selling the products made by them after the workshop. Under the same project we purchase all the products made by underprivileged women in order to provide them with employment.
