Sapna’s baby is only 3-months-old. Born almost 6 years after marriage, baby Virat means everything to Sapna and her husband Vijendar. Unfortunately, the little one is already battling for his life. Hailing from a small village, Virat’s delivery was done at home, and the fatal heart disease he was battling was not detected until 2 months later. The baby now urgently needs a surgery. His father, a simple helper at an office cannot afford the surgery that could save his life.
It started as a simple cold.
In his second month, Virat developed what looked like a common cold. His simple parents consulted a doctor and bought him the prescribed medicines. The cold, however, only got worse from here, and the little baby could not even breathe within the next two days. Totally confused, the parents started going from doctor to doctor. Finally, a child specialist told them that their baby had a heart problem. Baby Virat was referred to a hospital, and the diagnosis was confirmed.
Sapna has suffered 2 miscarriages.
“For the past 6 years, I have craved nothing more than the joy of being a mother. I lost two babies to painful miscarriages. When I finally got Virat, my joy knew no bounds, but now he is struggling to even breathe. I have to watch my 3-month-old suffer this way," Sapna breaks
Sapna is not even educated enough to understand what the doctor says, but the young mother is extremely scared of losing her baby now. She has been crying for days, unable to do anything to reduce the little one’s pain or discomfort.
The baby still has a chance.
An urgent surgery is the only way to save little Virat. The three month old’s heart is wearing out fast, and the procedure has to be started at the earliest.
Virat’s father hardly earns Rs. 6000 a month. He has mortgaged his land and house, and managed a lakh. However, he is still short of over Rs. 2 Lakh.
