Hi!
My name is Navya Arora.
I'm have graduated from Pathways school, Noida and I aspire to become a medical professional.
I have worked with a few other NGO’s in order to spread awareness of medical aid safety to underprivileged children as well as interned in a hospital to closely monitor patients. When it’s that time of the month, females are labelled as ‘weak’, which I believe is an incorrect notion, women experience 1-2cm’s of dilation while menstruating, which prepares them for a 14-15cm of dilation during times of pregnancy, experiencing this pain does not make a women weak, but rather develops them as individuals to bear a child, which means bearing the future of our country. Each time a women menstruates, she comes one step closer to being resilient to this pain, and bringing out this pain as a form of their strength. We at the Sukhad project, work forward with women who do not have access to menstrual hygiene essentials and need the comfort of feeling as powerful as any other day that they naturally would. By doing this, The Sukhad project not only aims to protect and serve the needy but also challenge the orthodox Indian standards set for women. We as people have evolved to live now in a technologically abled era, then why do we hesitate to talk about our evolution from using a cloth to a sanitary pad? One should not just be prepared enough to face a period but also be educated of how all women as a command unit have moved forward in development and success.
To give a brief of what we do at the project;
Providing sanitary pads, educating them on proper menstrual hygiene, and raising awareness that 'periods' and discussing them is not a taboo topic, but rather a normal method.
We are also conducting distribution drives every week where 'Sukhad Kit' is distributed which includes pads, soap, paper envelopes for disposal, and other essential items.
It is imperative for the Sukhad Project to flourish for which we have initiated the following-
WE ARE PLANNING TO DISTRIBUTE AROUND 50K SUKHAD KITS TO UNDERPRIVILEGED WOMEN throughout the year.
Per kit price:
Sukhad kit for 1 woman = Rs. 1,400/-
Sukhad kits for 5 women = Rs 7,000/-
KIT INCLUDES 24 packets of the sanitary pad 6 packets of soap Disposable paper envelopes.
