In March and April 2020, lakhs of underprivileged migrant workers suffered during the nationwide lockdown implemented due to COVID-19. Out of work, out of food, walking long distances home, their distress led to the largest migration within India since Partition.
And now, one year later, it’s like it is back to square one for them. They are out of work, out of food, and out on the streets yet again - many trying to head back to their villages and hometowns any way they can.
Right now, these migrant workers need our help - and that’s why I have created this page, a crowdfunding initiative to help them survive this new onslaught of troubles.
With your contributions, I will be collaborating with reputed NGOs working on the ground and help do the following to the very best of our abilities:
Provide food and shelter to migrant workers in need, so that they are not forced to travel home because they are starving.
Provide food and medical aid such as masks and sanitizers to returning migrant workers.
Provide food and assistance to migrant workers who have returned home but are still struggling.
You saw the suffering last year. You remember the pain. Let’s do our best towards making sure that it doesn’t happen again.
