Back in 2016, I started working as a counsellor in National Children's Academy in Wadgaonsheri, Pune. During my work, it was clear that low income schools have little to no support for mental health services despite mental health issues being a major deciding factor in dropout rates. Hence, in mid 2017, I started a company called CMHS and partnered with Teach for India to provide mental health services to multiple low income schools.
Our observations are : (1) children from low income schools are more susceptible to mental health issues due to familial, social and financial factors. (2) Govt. mental health professionals work in 5 schools at the same time. Hence, aren't able to function optimally. (3) Most mental health professionals are not trained to work in low income settings.

We created a program that would train counsellors and place them in low income schools.
