Meghshala aims to reach 50,000 teachers by the end of the year. This campaign will provide us a launchpad by helping us reach 1000 of the most invested teachers in Karnataka.
And you can help! With just 500 rupees you will help empower 1 government school teacher!
Since 2015, we have been working with more than 500 teachers in government schools across the state. Over the last few months we’ve begun to understand that there is a tremendous increase in the number of teachers with access to smartphones. With this surge in technology, there is an equal increase in the demand for the Meghshala content as more than a thousand teachers across the state have reached out to us via calls, SMS, WhatsApp and Facebook.
To address this need, we are releasing a new and improved version of the Meghshala app with all the content available on demand & completely free-of-cost to the teachers.
This project is estimated at a cost of Rs. 500/- per teacher - less than USD 10$ per teacher.
Through the online fundraiser, we wish to reach 1000 teachers across the state of Karnataka.
Cost per teacher
Technology cost: Android App, Learning Management System, Cloud space etc.
Enabling Cost: Server setup cost at Block Centres, Internet, Operations costs.
Training Cost: One time training to understand app usage
Engagement and Monitoring Cost: Building teacher communities, Data analysis, Reporting etc.
Providing quality education to more than a million government schools has resulted in the government struggling to offer quality and holistic education to every child.
A study of the conditions in Indian government schools persuaded us to focus on raising basic standards of performance and engagement for every learner, rather than simply raising the level of excellence of a few students.
We believe that every teacher can shape the lives of his or her students.
Meghshala has a vision of the world of the future, where the entire generation is set up to thrive. We will achieve this by designing education that levels the playing field for all children, making them thinkers and conservers of society and the Earth.
Meghshala uses technology in innovative ways, to produce high impact in training teachers to teach students to be thinkers and learners. With mentorship and guidance, we craft a solution that will have high fidelity and great impact.

In light of the fact that 20% of the Indian population has access to the internet while 72% hold an active mobile subscription, we decided to pursue the Ed-Tech route. Most other solutions in the market replace the teacher in the classroom, thereby diminishing the teacher’s value and responsibility.
However, our prime focus is to provide in-class adaptive training to teachers. This supplements teaching skills in existing academic instruction.
At Meghshala, we recognize technology as a medium that can accelerate student learning and ease classroom instruction. As a result, technology forms an integral part of our innovation, content creation and implementation.SOLUTION
‘Megh’ is the Sanskrit word for cloud and ‘Shala’ is another word for school. Meghshala, therefore, stands for ‘a school on the cloud.’
At Meghshala we understand that world-class TeachKits alone cannot be the solution and hence have come up with a 3-prong innovation to attack the problem from all sides.
While keeping the teacher at the center we focus on:
- TeachKits: World class pedagogy, aligned to local curriculum that addresses different learning styles, is iterative, multilingual, designed well and has high fidelity to ensure lossless distribution of content.
- The Meghshala App: An intuitive Android mobile application with offline and online capabilities which can be used in remote locations. The Meghshala app is loaded with over 2500 ‘Teachkits’ in English, Hindi and Kannada Medium.

.GROWTH AND IMPACT
At Meghshala we constantly strive to reach as many children and teachers in the government schooling system as possible. Because of our high scalability and high fidelity, we’ve been able to expand our reach to some of the most deserving geographies across Karnataka.
Working with 500+ teachers across Karnataka, our work today impacts more than 15000 students in areas ranging from densely populated urban government schools to sparsely populated remote, rural schools.
Our impact on student learning outcomes has been evaluated by a third party assessing agency and is available on request.TESTIMONIAL
" One day, children were looking very excited, they had lot’s of experience to share with me. They had cleaned up the their home premises and made it free from plastic, electronic and other environment polluting materials.
After listening to them, I realized that this change happened because of the lesson “Pollution” which I did days back using Meghshala teach kit. In the teach kit there was a video about pollution.
Also, there was an activity where children needed to identify the places which was causing pollution around their living premises. So, the children identified those places and they had cleaned it.
Like this, there are some changes happening in children, it’s because of Meghshala video lessons. The teach kit includes very special and rare images, graphs, interesting stories, effective videos. Meghshala not only gives Teach kit, it also conducts monthly review and sharing sessions where a lot of new learning and teaching techniques are shared between Meghshala Resource people and Government school teachers."
