My name is Raghavan. After demitting office, for the past ten years, I have been actively researching to find a way out to emancipate small and marginal farmers in India. After going through the various narratives, I came to a conclusion that a different paradigm is required to tackle this issue. I find that the goal is nearing and when y9u read the story below, it would be clearer.

 

It will be shocking to know that our small and marginal farmers lead a destitute life in villages. All the help and assistance we read about do not touch them. They touch some farmer who is able to do farming with resources and large land owners, who really do not need help.

We are a group of professionals who have joined together to help farmers of Achanayakampatti. They have agreed to our idea to pool their lands and let our professionals conduct agriculture along with some of them. Others will work as labour on the farm and receive wages round the year. This will help them to be out of penury and they will give their best of productivity to the business plan we have worked out. We needed funds and approached NABARD. They seek a steep rate of interest (11.75% p.a) and lease of farmer's lands. Both are not in the interest of farmers. That's why we seek your help to kick start this project. Many wish to invest in this space. It may be possible for us to take a loan and pay a soft interest on it, if desired.
