Hi everyone,
In the fast-paced world of today, it is common knowledge that having theoretical knowledge, while valuable, is just not enough. We all need practical skills to survive and make the most of our talents. And the work that Apni Shala is doing strives to achieve just that.
Working with students across standards 4th to 9th, Apni Shala’s aim is to foster critical thinking skills, confidence, empathy (and more!) in kids thereby enabling them to live a life of their choice. Having studied in an education system that has always revolved around examinations, I can now see why life skills education is as important as it is.
The discussion around the significance of life skills was almost non-existent in our classrooms, more so in municipal schools. And this is exactly why I decided to run the Mumbai Marathon 2017 for them – to ensure that our children get access to education that will help them apply in real life what their books have taught them.

I aim to raise INR 38,000 for this cause through my run in the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon (SCMM) 2017. The funds received will go towards sustaining life skills education of 67 children in the M-West Ward of Mumbai - a ward with one of the lowest Human Development Indices in the city.
