Matching Campaign For 5-Year-Old Madhumitha's Liver Transplant

5-year-old Madhumitha is suffering from acute chronic liver failure (end stage liver cirrhosis) secondary to Wilsons disease. Her father who is the sole bread winner has already spent all their savings to treat her.

Doctors have recommended an urgent liver transplant to save her. Her family is not in a position to be able to afford a liver Transplant.
Her father has come forward to donate a portion of his liver
Her father is the potential voluntary living liver donor for her planned transplant. The cost of a liver transplant is Rs. 12.5 lakhs. This includes surgery for both Madhumitha and her father.

Matching your donations
A generous donor has committed to a significant amount and is also matching all donations made on Milaap, hereby helping us reach the need faster. 100% of your donations will go towards the treatment and surgery.

Dear supporters,

A week ago, we received news that Madhumitha's family did not want to proceed with the transplant and chose to discharge her from hospital. The same was communicated to you all. However, here is a positive update. Madhumitha's parents have defied all odds to come back to the hospital last Saturday as they couldn't see their daughter go through the pain. She was admitted to the hospital immediately as her condition had substantially deteriorated in the prior week, and was scheduled to undergo transplant immediately.

I am happy to share with you all that her transplant was successfully completed. The surgery lasted for about 11 hours. Her father, Ramesh, came forward to donate a portion of his liver to Madhumita. She is recovering well along with her father, who will be transferred to the ward today.

Funds raised for Madhumitha were initially mapped to another liver transplant patient in need of funds. However, in light of the change of heart of Madhumita's family and their desire to move forward and save their daughter, your contribution has been utilised for Madhumitha's treatment. The family was also able to arrange 2.5 lakhs to support the treatment. We would like to thank all the donors who supported Madhumitha right from the start, and made this happen. The Pravin Agarwal Fund who was supporting Madhumitha's treatment by matching every donation, came forward to donate the remaining funds for her urgent treatment.

Madhumitha has a long road ahead of her till full recovery and she needs your prayers. Thank you once again. We couldn't have done this without you.

Warmly,
Dr. Sonal Asthana
