“He is 1 year 4 months old, but his weight is only 7.5 kgs – he is severely underweight. The people of our village point out to us that our child can't even walk. We really don't need to be reminded. We are keenly aware that our child is sick. If we miss even one tablet – the effect is immediate and our son starts crying because his heart is beating fast like he's running. Only in his case – it does not subside.”
Lushank's father works in a hospital office doing data entry work. He has been running from pillar to post trying to make sure he does everything to keep his baby alive. He finally took a bus and came to Apollo Hospitals, Delhi, when the doctor told him the baby needed immediate surgery.
But the danger is not over yet. Lushank has gotten his surgery done, but since he is so young, he is still in the ICU. It'll be days before he is declared out of danger. His parents are desperately praying for some good news.
“Those hours when the operation was going on was the worst. My wife just kept crying. My father passed away two months back, but before his death he named our son Lushank. We don't know what it means, but it is my father's last blessing. With his condition still so bad, I can't lose him too,” says Hem.
The last few months have been very difficult for this family. They have already spent over Rs 2.5 lakhs now. They have nothing left to continue paying for Lushank's treatment. Your help is this family's last hope.
