Rev. John Devapiriam – A social thinker and son of soil who committed himself to the development of slum community in Vyasarpadi – a cluster of slums in North Chennai. Vyasarpadi is a place for migrants, Dock labourers and criminal activities. In spite of modern technology development and civilization, still this area is backward area and associated with anti-social elements. For the last 2 decades, he has involved in social service and doing theosophical as well as social service. He has extended his helping hands whenever the flood, heavy rain fall vanished the life of people living in single room thatched houses. During summer, fire accidents are occurred. Women and children are the worst sufferers in this area both in winter and summer.
He has running a tailoring and typing institutes for slum children at free of cost. Children studying from 1st Std to 12th Std were the beneficiaries of Free Tuition Center run by him. He has established a registered, non-governmental and non-profit organization – Bill Grundy Self Reliance Trust. Without any government support he has carrying out the welfare activities and programs for

  • Skill training for girls and young women

Now 21 deserving girl children in Magazinepuram and C-Kalyanapuram slums in Vyasarpadi Cluster needs educational support. The amount required for 21 girl children education is 135000/-.
