“The Learn from Home Project”
Save the Future of these Students! Equip them to continue their education.
The ongoing pandemic has impacted lives and economies around the world. The education sector is no different - having been one of the most severely impacted. While schools in India continue to be closed for almost three months now, the impact on education is severe. With no opening in sight and a strong resistance by the parent body and health experts to not open schools until a vaccine is found, schools have no choice but to start online classes and continue education for their students.
While most International schools have asked parents to buy the latest iPads for children, the vast majority of schools in Bangalore, India, have to rely on basic gadgets like smart phones to continue their education. The hardest hit are the 7th and 10th grade students who will be facing a public exam next year! It is crucial for them to continue their studies and prepare for public exams which will set the base for their future education and careers.
To bridge the gap and ensure continuation of education for the students, Global Shapers Bangalore will be raising funds for 34 students of grade 7 and 10 of Raintree School.
We aim to equip these students with Lenovo Tablets (Model No. ZA570151IN) which are ideal for online classes.
Through this intervention we aim to reimagine the “Learn from home” concept by making it holistic and interactive. We will be designing the programme with support of prominent NGOs of the city.
Lenovo India has partnered with us on this initiative to provide the tablets at cost price and will upload the tablets with carefully curated student friendly applications useful for online classes.

Raintree Schools
Raintree Schools are affordable private schools located in Bangalore currently with over 900 students from preschool upto grade 10. With the onset of the pandemic and lockdown in the nation, Raintree Schools were proactive and adapted to digital classrooms quickly. They started training their teachers for online classes at an early stage and started online classes for 7th and 10th grade from mid May. So far the school has been successful in taking classes online, but are facing many hurdles. As the economy started to unlock most students who used their parent’s basic smartphone could not anymore as they had to go back to work. This left the students without the hardware to login anymore. Parents with more than one child also faced issues with sharing the smart phone when classes took place simultaneously. This has led to a decrease in the attendance for online classes and students are unable to continue their education.
