The lockdown is over. People are back on the roads. Yet, sex workers struggle to piece back their life. Children of sex workers are left without means to attend schools since their parents have no income anymore. The added pressure of having a smartphone and attending classes online means children are undergoing tremendous stress.

This fundraiser is but a meagre attempt to help 50 children of sex workers in different parts of Karnataka continue their school education. The cost of attending school for each child is INR 40,000 per year (USD 550). Through Sangama, I am helping with partial costs of buying cellphones and fee related expenses worth INR 15,000 (USD 205).

Sangama works with thousands of sex workers in different parts of Karnataka. During the lockdown, they were one of the few frontline non-profits supporting sex workers with food and nutritional supplements.


I could not ask for a better gift than simply this - support these children in pursuing their education and ensure that they can come out shining.
