Larahi, a small village in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand is home to 500 people and 81 households. Most of the residents are either engaged in farming or they are daily wage labourers.

Larahi for a long time has been ignored and deprived of the basic facilities such as a hospital, a high school, a tar road to approach the village. It was high time as the villagers faced a hard time to travel to the city, transport groceries and travel to high school in the town nearby.

In 1996, a boat carrying 12 people from Larahi village capsized in the Koyla River and 6of them lost their lives. Triloki Yadav, one of the residents who was just 15 years old then, witnessed this incident. Since then he has been seeing Larahi villagers make regular visits to government offices with requests to build them a road and a bridge along this route. Ministers have come and gone depending on election seasons – promising to build the road and bridge and disappearing again.

It was the time they took the matter into their own hands. Triloki along with his friends convinced the other villagers to start the construction of a road and a bridge over the river Koyla. In 2016 they were we able to collect the budgeted sum of Rs 50 lakhs.

The road construction started in Feb 2016 is 85% complete, however, they still require another 2 lakhs rupees to complete the approach road.

Estimate Breakup of 2 lakh rupees is as under:

Cost of running 10 hyvas to lay bolder on 300 meters  10 X 12000 = Rs. 120000 Cost of  running 10 hyvas for laying out gravel on 300 meters 10x7000 = Rs. 70000
Cost of levelling the gravel = Rs. 10000

Total Rs 200000
Once the road and bridge are ready, the travel distance between Larahi and Koderma will be reduced by almost 15 kms. Also, a small town called Barhi can be reached by travelling for just 7 km.

We request everyone to support them in such a great cause as it will help them flourish and grow and also help in saving lives.
