    from Mumbai, Maharashtra

Who We Are:
We are Krantikaris – that’s Hindi for "Revolutionaries" – from Kranti, an NGO that empowers girls from Mumbai's red-light areas to become agents of social change.

We are daughters of sex workers. We are survivors of trafficking.

We are not victims. We are leaders.

We are young women, ages 13-21, determined to change our world.

Change Through Theater:
In 2013, we Krantikaris wrote, directed, and performed a play about our lives. We've already performed for over 100,000 people!

In 2015, we performed in 6 different cities and dozens of venues in the US, including schools, prisons, NGOs for trafficked teens, and even at Google and Facebook headquarters.

By telling our stories, we've changed our audiences' mindsets about us, our moms, and our community. Now, we want to take our stories around the United Kingdom!

Laal Batti Express:
Laal Batti (“Red Light”) Express is a one-of-a-kind production about our lives as young women from Mumbai’s red-light area.

The play has a train theme that follows us through our pasts, our current situations, and the changes we hope to bring to the future.

The Grand Plan:
Our eight-week itinerary, in addition to our performances, includes visits to NGOs working on girls’ and women’s rights, sex workers’ groups, universities, schools, and other organizations working with marginalized youth. Starting from June 15, we plan to travel to London, Cambridge, Brighton, Bath, Cardiff, Dublin, York, and Edinburgh.

How to Help:
All of our transportation, food, lodging, and sightseeing will be donated by individuals and companies in the UK. But we are fundraising for the things that people can’t donate: visa applications, theater props, and venue fees.

Will you support the Laal Batti Express to carry our voices all the way from Mumbai’s red-light area to stages in the UK??
