I am Meena Dubey and this appeal goes out as a humble request to all our well-wisher. My husband Kamlesh Shankar Dubey is battling with what doctors have labelled, terminal cancer.
To many he is the very kind hearted and humble person in the town and has been surveyor. He is the only bread owner of the house. He has been an incredible friend and husband and a great dad to our beautiful daughter and wonderful son. We have an amazing set of family and friends who are already helping us out in whatever way it’s possible. We desperately hope that we, his friends and loved ones, can raise the funds he needs for a potential lifesaving treatment, where time is of the essence. Here is a bit of his story, in his own words:
“In August 2016, I was feeling perfectly fit, and healthy and was fully satisfied with my life. We were a happy family. The happy news arrived when my daughter got selected for Masters in Business Administration from a good University in Pune.
But, it turns out that the Universe has other plans. Life was about to take an unexpected turns of events. I developed a blister in my tongue, which was not going away even after few days, so I visited a doctor who told me that it is an ulcer. After taking the ulcer medicine for few months the ulcer was not healing, in Jan 2017, my doctor suggested me to go for the biopsy and the bad news come in the form that I was diagnosed with tongue carcinoma, stage 3. They asked me whether I ever took tobacco or cigarette and I told them, that I never took tobacco or cigarette in my life and I was feeling very hopeless at that time. Although, I asked them about the cure, they told me that it is operable but it is a huge risk as it can metastasise. I was ready to take risk. I got operated and went for chemotherapy and radiotherapy. But it turns out that cancer reoccurred after two months and got spread to lungs, and was diagnosed as stage 4 cancer. A fairly brutal and bleak diagnosis but one I am determined to challenge and see from the perspective of a glass half full. I am regularly going on with chemotherapy and target therapy (immunotherapy). These therapies are latest and are very expensive. I have carried this battle very bravely till now with strong will-power and determination. Due to these difficult circumstances, I am unable to work. The cost has drained me, my family members and relatives. Every chemotherapy and immunotherapy will cost approximately 1 lac and I have to continue it for 6 months and will be done at an interval of 2 weeks. Hence, the total approximate cost of the treatment will be around 15 lacs including other charges. We will need funds within 3 months to continue this treatment. Additionally, I am the sole bread owner of the house I have a huge liability of my family. These are the reasons, we are fundraising here.”
To me he has given love, patience, kindness and shown an incredible light in my world. We want to make sure the light he shines radiates for a long time yet, and are all determined he can beat this. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, please donate generously if you can to help fund this potentially lifesaving treatment. We will be eternally grateful and indebted.
