Assam tragically lost two young men, Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das who fell victims to fake social media reports on child-kidnapping or child lifting. They were budding artists from the region and we are appalled by such barbaric and inhuman act. The related news articles are :

Knowing that the families of the victims will need our help and support in coming weeks and want those who wish to offer their support a legitimate outlet, we have created this fundraiser.
We are both, natives of Assam, who are currently working and based out of USA. Paranjyoti Lahkar is an employee of DC Department of Transportation(Washington DC) and Piyashi Bhattacharyya is an employee of Ancestry(Utah). We have been deeply affected by the mob lynching incident which was the result of three factors which grips our current society :
a) Xenophobia ( Us vs Them )
b) Fake News and Viral videos on social media
c) Lawlessness which have become a norm in the current society.
Such talented people did not deserve such brutal deaths.
Your secure donation will go to the families of both Abhijit and Nilotpal for:
1. Funeral expenses
2. Financial resource for their family
If any additional amount is collected above the fundraising goal, it will go towards an NGO for sensitizing remote communities on Xenophobia, Fake news and viral news which will be decided by the families of Abhijit and Nilotpal. We believe that understanding of discrimination (Any form), fake news should be a part of public discourse so that it could lead to greater communal harmony.
Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
