My motivation has been to improve the lives of women from under-privileged backgrounds by providing them access to livelihoods. This project Kagaaz Ke Pankh, we aim to build sustainable livelihoods through re-utilization of solid waste and building an ecologically conscious society. Women in the villages are traditionally equipped with wisdom which gives rise to opportunities to harness their livelihoods if nurtured in a positive way. Women need resources, raw materials precise skills along with the handholding to find out ways to go ahead. Our campaign aims to raise funds for 50 rural women who will be given continuous skill development trainings to develop their ability to reuse the solid waste and earn a living. The skills are not only about generating a livelihood, but also about them commanding a respectable position in the society. We have adopted a three folded approach of development includes a>Recycle and reuse of waste to make the environment sustainable, b>Development of small enterprises for rural women, and c>Create a market for the recycled products to address poverty alleviation. The goal is to develop a chain of empowered women clusters by encouraging skill development and creating livelihood . Simultaneously the women will send out a strong message of saving the environment and reusing the waste in a productive manner. With the funds from the campaign we shall arrange a six month skill development training for 50 rural women and teach them the skill of up-cycling solid waste, particularly paper and cloth. The funds will be utilized to organize trainings, buy raw materials and stationery, and logistics cost.
