MISSION
This initiative is undertaken to ‘Activate 50 Defunct Hospitals’ across India. Private/Govt. hospitals which are lying defunct for years are identified and are activated into make-shift hospitals/ COVID care centers within 10-15 days where the hospital beds are provided Free of Cost to all the patients.

PROJECT SUMMARY
The Defunct hospitals are identified, activated with the required medical infrastructure to treat the affected COVID-19 patients. The hospital/ Covid care centre is then handed over to the government for the next 6-9 months for treatment of covid patients FREE OF COST to all the patients, rich and poor alike. Post the pandemic, the hospital would be run as a Charitable Trust.

India NEED MORE CAPACITY
We all are aware of the dearth of the medical infrastructure availability in India and dire need to add to the capacities. With the rising cases in India, we need not discuss the numbers to know the poor situation we are in to handle the crisis. However, details are provided -
Private healthcare is expensive and unavailable for many poor households in India which leaves public healthcare facilities as the only available option for them. For patients who are found to be COVID-19 positive, isolation wards are needed; additionally, for critical cases, intensive care is needed. Currently, almost all suspected cases of coronavirus are referred to government hospitals and it’s important to assess where we stand in terms of medical capacity to provide necessary healthcare to the affected individuals.

If we were to focus on the availability of government hospital beds for major states in India. Using data from National Health Profile–2019, we observed that there are 7,13,986 total government hospital beds available in India. This amounts to 0.55 beds per 1000 population. The elderly population (aged 60 and above) is especially vulnerable, given more complications which are reported for patients in this age group. The availability of beds for elderly population in India is 5.18 beds per 1000 population.

This campaign aims at raising funds for one hospital at a time. The target is to raise INR 50 Lakh to build a 100 bed hospital.

**Depending on emergencies, a percentage of the funds would also be utilized in donation of oxygen concentrators, food donation or tele-consultations.
