My name is Raghav Mittal. Presently, I am doing MS in Computer Science from International Institute of Information Technology(IIIT), Hyderabad. I did B.Tech in CSE from NIIT University, Neemrana, Rajasthan. During my undergraduate study years at Neemrana, I realized that areas like Neemrana which are far from urban cities like Delhi lack primary health and education facilities because professionals don't want to stay there. Providing good quality education, skill training and medical facilities is a big challenge. Even numerous efforts of our government fall short when the population is rapidly growing and culture is diverse.
Currently, I study how people coming from different backgrounds interact with virtual environments. Previously, I was involved in a project in which I studied the challenges which non-English speaking people face when trying to gain knowledge from the Internet. I want to explore the scope of virtual and augmented reality technology for providing the best in class education, healthcare and skill development facilities to rural people and also making affordable VR hardware.
Jagriti Yatra is an ambitious train journey of discovery and transformation that takes hundreds of India's highly motivated youth, especially those who are from small towns and villages of India, on a 15 day, 8000 km national odyssey to meet the role models - social and business entrepreneurs - of the country. The vision of Jagriti is 'building India through enterprise'. It is set up under a non-profit charitable organisation Jagriti Sewa Sansthan and is headquartered in Mumbai. Jagriti Sewa Sansthan is based in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh and focuses on skill development.
I have been selected to be a part of this journey. By visiting different places, I will get a chance to see the ground reality of technological advancements in India. This will help me in creating a roadmap for achieving my future goals. I am also interested in understanding the psychology of people of different cultures and places, and how they perceive technologies like VR and AR. This journey will also help me in finding potential business partners for building low cost, high-quality VR headsets.
To take part in this yatra, I am required to pay ₹66,000/- as a contribution towards expenditure of 15-days long journey. I need your help to achieve my dream. My family will contribute 10-15k rupees but we cannot afford the full amount. Please help me through your valuable contribution.
