The primary reason for choosing Project- Gadgetshala is the growing significance of education in today’s world. I believe the only sword which can help people to fight poverty and unemployment is Education. Although India has raised its current literacy rate of 74.04% (2021) from 12% at the time of Independence in 1947, it still lags behind the world average literacy rate of 84%. Compared with other nations, the Republic of India has the largest illiterate population. Hence, improvement in the educational sector of the country becomes the need of an hour.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the education sector has been hit hard. The education of the students has turned completely online making it inaccessible to the underprivileged community. Thus, in order to minimize the damage caused by the pandemic, there arises a need to provide smart gadgets to underprivileged children. But looking at the number of these children and the price of the gadgets, it becomes quite difficult to collect sufficient funds and purchase them. So, one way of solving this issue can be the use of mobile vans. These vans would contain a sufficient amount of smart gadgets along with wi-fi installed in it. Since it is often noticed that this community generally lives together in a particular set of locations. So, one van could be provided for each such location so that students can reach out to these vans and attend their online classes without any problem. This will help in reducing the number of funds required along with providing proper facilities to the students.
