Empower Students from Low-Income Schools to Become Leaders of Tomorrow

Each one of us, at some point in our lives, realized that scoring marks was not the only criteria to be successful in life. We needed confidence, better communication skills, and improved ability to deal with failures. We needed to be more empathetic, solve problems outside of books and be better in teamwork skills. These are the abilities and traits our youth requires in today’s changing and rapidly developing the world.

What is Involve?
Students are full of potential, and many a time we underestimate what their inquisitive minds can do. They need more than subject knowledge; they need other skills to face the real world and get good employability skills. Lack of confidence, depression and several issues are there which don't let students realize their true potential. Involve is committed to equipping students with tools to strengthen their learning ability. We are developing students from low-income schools into leaders of tomorrow.

We are doing it through a well structured and research-backed PEER Teaching methodology where we train and mentor senior students of the 8-11th standard to teach their juniors. This program helps both the student who teaches and the one who is being taught. While our program design develops the much needed soft skills in the students involved and helps them understand the importance of learning and becoming self-motivated, it also ensures that our classes are much more engaging, purposeful and joyous.

Impact Till Now and Future Plans:
We have worked with more than 400 students till now and have developed 50+ student leaders. From this year, we will be working with schools in Chennai and Goripalya, a community in Bangalore, where students are victims of child labor and don't have enough opportunities. We aim to impact 1000+ students this year, and in years to come, want to create a student revolution where we help as many as 147 million young students realize their potential and empower them towards self-directed learning. Imagine all our students motivated and inspired to learn where they are aware of their capabilities. Involve is committed to bringing that change.

Be a Part of this Change!
For this year, our budget us INR 1.8 million, 1/3rd of which (INR 6 Lakhs) we are raising through your support. The money will be strictly used for program costs (training, workshops, innovation trips and operations support) and to buy some Android tablets to magnify the learning outcomes.

2 out of the 3 co-founders, who are from IIT Madras, are not taking any salary from the organization, and the 3rd quit his job to work towards student empowerment with his head, heart, and hand. Over time, we want to be a sustainable organization recovering about 60% of our costs through revenues.

With as less as INR 250, you can be a part of this change and empower a student in becoming leaders of tomorrow. This is a call for everyone to be a part of our vision of student empowerment and get involved.
(INR 250 is the cost of skill development and academic support of 1 student for a month. With INR 2000, you can sponsor a class of 8 students, and with INR 3000, you can sponsor a child for a year).

Hello Involve Family,

We are very excited to share these updates with you :)

Some Inspirational Moves

A key element of collaborations are the mentors who constantly guide the cohort organisations. One of our mentors, Sanjay Purohit Sir who has been the Executive Vice President of Infosys for multiple years and is an advisor to EkStep Foundation and eGovernments Foundation, along with his wife Anupama Purohit visited us in Chennai. They spent an hour with our Changemaker fellows and visited one of our partner schools to understand our work on the ground. It not only has put trust in us, provided the required mentoring support but also provide an opportunity to learn from his vast experience.

Student Leadership in Bengaluru

Reaching out to more schools and impacting more Students is what we dream of. Following this, we started out Program in 2 more Schools. Both these schools are led by visionary Leaders and are focused on student-centric learning. With training completed and our Peer Teaching classes about to start, we are excited to see how these students grow into responsible leaders.

Student-Driven Ecosystem

Peer Teaching started in our schools in Chennai for this academic year, and the reason why we are very excited is that the classes and students are managed and trained completely by a set of college students whom we selected as "Changemakers Fellows". Imagine what we could achieve if College students start mentoring Senior students of the school who in turn teach their juniors.

Widened Involve Team

It is always an exciting time to bring a new team member on board. We are pleased to have Kadambari joining our team in Chennai. She has completed her Bachelors in Social work from Madras School of Social Work and has also worked with HelpAge India and International Alliance for prevention of AIDS. With outstanding relationship building techniques, proficiency in training & presentation skills we believe she will add a lot of value to Involve.

We received our 12A and 80G

We received our 80G tax exemption certificate and 12A this month. This is coming at the right time as we plan to expand our projects.
All donations to Involve are now tax exempt so feel free to help us reach out and empower more Students.

Thank you so much for your continued support in our journey of transforming students into changemakers of tomorrow!

Warm regards,
Involve Team

Hello Involve Family,
Very excited to give these 2 updates to you :)

1) In the beginning of the month, we invited all our Student Leaders to Shaastra (the Technical festival of IIT Madras) for a one day innovation trip and our students loved the exposure that they got. Most of these were students from corporation schools and communities where coming to a IIT college campus and having a tour of it is quite a dream. Here is a picture that says it all:

2) Our Students took part in the Maker's club event of the Kids Education Revolution Summit organized by Teach For India - Chennai. This served as a space for the students of  various schools to come together and share about the projects they are involved in.  Our SLs spoke how the Peer teaching platform and the Leadership training-ALS are helping them.  As an icing on the cake, they also won a prize in the quiz!

Thank you so much for your continued support in our journey of transforming students into changemakers of tomorrow!
