When life turned into a book of mediocrity, I left my job in IT field and home town to work among the grassroots of my nation, to see if I could contribute in any way and not become just "another brick in the wall" (Pink Floyd:).
My name is Anandhakrishnan and I'm from Kerala,India. Currently I am doing a fellowship "Indiafellow" ( you can check more about it at www.indiafellow.org), which requires me to work with a grassroot level NGO in India for a year. In the current batch of this fellowship, there are 10 of us working in different areas such as livelihood, education, financial inclusion, health etc. trying to understand its problems. I am working with an NGO known as "Agragamee" (in Odisha,India) which works among some of the most under developed tribal communities in the world. Working among these population helped me realize that the solution for this scenario is far more complex than all the popular beliefs and other government run programs. It requires a better understanding of the community, its subsets and more importantly you need a better mechanism to structure it so as to arrive at a solution. This is where design thinking comes in. It helps us formulate our ideas into a better structure so as to arrive at a much better solution.
This fellowship has a travel workshop at the end to help us learn Design Thinking by exposing us to a harsh environment. For that this year we have chosen "Kutch Desert" in Gujarat, India. It is one of the most inhospitable regions in India. We will live the community for 10 days and will try to understand their problems. So if we try to learn to solve problems of the community in there through design thinking, I believe I could easily apply it anywhere. We will be living with the community for 10 days and apply design thinking to arrive at solutions to some of the problems that they face. For me to be able to attend this workshop I must raise Rs 35,000/-. When I started out for this I had my friends and family in my mind to help me raise this amount. But unfortunately many of them were badly affected by the recent flood in Kerala,India.
So crowdfunding is now my hope. I want to go for this travel and grab this opportunity. Family and personal problems were easy to manage for me to take this journey but when it comes to this fund I need your help. The money will be utilized for my travel expenses, documentation of work done and food and accommodation for 10 days. Kindly donate an amount that see fit to help me make this journey.
