Story

I started my charity in 1993 sheltering only two  dogs. Today over 80 homeless dogs, who were once sick, injured and dying, now call our place their home. They all receive individual attention and care are not released until declared fit by a private vet. Animals with chronic diseases and the ones who have suffered immense abuse and torture, go on to stay with us.

Hakhoo animals foundation has been serving homeless animals for twenty five years now, emptying our own wallets on every rescue and expending our own energies. We have received little to no help from people in these years. Catching up with the current times and inflation, it’s getting increasingly difficult to ensure that every animal goes to bed with their bellies full of food and love.

In a place like Jammu, where there is not even a functional SPCA, a lot of animal lovers reach out to us in times of crisis. It’s devastating for us to turn down and deny help to animals with serious illnesses since we don’t have enough space, funds and manpower. We still try our best to treat the animal on the spot but it's not always the most effective solution.

We feed 150 dogs, 20 cows and several cats twice every single day. Our dogs are fed chicken, rice, pedigree, milk and many seasonal vegetables. Our cows relish the vegetable leftovers, breads and chapatis. Every penny that you send to us will be used in making the lives of more stray dogs better. Our feeding mission will be entirely funded by us as we believe it’s our moral duty to feed the hungry.
