    This fundraiser will benefit

    Yogitha manoj Kamath

    from Mumbai, Maharashtra

Yogita Manoj Kamath is a 25-year-old woman who is full of life and enthusiasm and has a very positive and energetic approach towards life.

Few days ago, on 31st March 2017 to be precise, she felt sudden numbness in her body. Her legs were getting weakened and she was losing strength rapidly. She was already feeling weak while leaving her workplace in the evening and hence a colleague of hers brought her home in an autorickshaw.

On the morning of 1st April, the numbness had spread to major part of her body and hence was urgently rushed by her family members to Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Mumbai. She underwent treatment there and was later diagnosed to have fallen victim to GBS (Guillain-Barré Syndrome) virus. This is classified as rarest of the rare disease and she herself is one such rare case of this disease in the entire country. More details of this disease are on this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillain%E2%80%93Barr%C3%A9_syndrome

As her body was getting weak rapidly, the hospital advised that she be transferred to a larger hospital with more advanced technologies and be placed under the supervision of a neurosurgeon. Therefore, on 4th April, she was transferred to S.L. Raheja Hospital, Mumbai. Due to her serious condition, she was placed on ventilator on 7th April and is currently on the same at the time of writing this article. At the time of placing her on ventilator, the doctor had mentioned very clearly that she had almost only 48 hours left with her.

However, due to her strong will to survive, she proved wrong the doctor’s estimation of 48 hours and is currently fighting all odds to regain lost movement of her body. Currently her body has lost all movement below the neck. The condition remains same till date with she yet to regain movement in her body under the neck part.

Her husband, Manoj Kamath, is now fighting a lone battle to make her regain normalcy against all odds. All he wants is to have his wife stand in front of him as before. Their financial condition is very ordinary and the costs billed till now are already to the tune of ~15lakhs. This amount is expected to grow to ~40akhs (please check certificates attached). They have no alternate sources to gain this huge amount.

Therefore, we appeal to help us raise this amount so that there are no hindrances in her treatment and her body movements gain normalcy soon.
