My name is Karthik and i live in Whitefield, Bengaluru. Running is my passion. I am going to run 10KM in TCS World 10K Bengaluru on May 21st. I believe in running for a cause. This time i have choosen to run for the cause of Women Safety during travel. I have read in newspapers/social media and was also told by my friends that many women go through sexuual harassment while traveling in public transport especially in crowded bus. And 98% of the women are helpless in such situations.

I get to know about Durga India which is a citizen's initiative empowering women and girls address sexual harassment - with Dignity!
They have a solution called "Durga Alarm" for the above mentioned problem. And i have decided to raise funds for the same.

Durga Alarm is the solution towards women safety from Durga India Trust in association with BMTC.  Durga Alarm is being installed in BMTC buses in Bengaluru by Durga India.

Idea is to raise an alarm when a lady feels threatened in a public transport and wants to call for attention and handle the situation before she becomes a victim. She may also not want to interact with the perpetrator, neither will she want to hurt his ego.

Cost of installing One Durga Alarm is approximately Rs.7000. Goal of this campaign is to raise funds for 10 such alarms.
