10-year-old Lathika Needs Urgent Help To Stay Alive

10-year-old Lathika has been fighting a life-threatening condition for the past 5 years. She got a chance to finally undergo the treatment but before she could complete it, she is fighting the second battle, unable to arrange the money.

Lathika has become unrecognisable due to her condition

Lathika's mother's eyes flood with tears while talking about her. "My daughter looks so different now. My relatives can't recognise her now. We don't show her the mirror. This condition has almost killed her."

Lathika suffers from Hemophagocytic Lymphohististiocytosis, a condition which reduces the blood counts. She and has been admitted to the hospital several times over the last 2 years.

Lathika knows about her condition. "Will my hair grow back? she asks her mother often. She can't bear the pain and is often unconscious.

We will end our lives, we can't save her

"I don't know if I can save my daughter. We have just a few hours left to settle the bills and I don't know what I can do. If nothing happens we will end our lives".

They have struggled a lot to get her admitted to the hospital and was helped by his employer initially but they are on the verge of losing Lathika.

If they can settle the bills, she can continue the treatment which will make her stable. But if she is out of her treatment, her condition will deteriorate.

They need close to 7 lakhs immediately to settle the bills and proceed with the transplant.

How you can help

This is Lathika's only chance to survive. If our help can save this girl's life, a family will get back their daughter. This 10-year-old has suffered more than what we can imagine. Our support will help her stay alive. Funds raised will go towards Lathika's immediate treatment

Dear Supporters,

We have some unfortunate news to share.

Lathika passed away on Sunday (August 6th). Our hearts go out to this brave child who endured so much pain and fought so hard for her life. She had Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis and was getting treated for the same.

The bone marrow transplant had also been performed and it was a success. In the past few days, she had developed mouth infections and she was being administered medication for the same. Unfortunately, her body was unable to take the stress.

Your timely support ensured that she received the best medical care. The family is grateful for all the care and support you’ve shown Lathika. The past few weeks have been the most difficult ones for the family.

We hope they find strength in this time of grief. May Lathika’s soul find peace. Please keep the family in your prayers.

Dear supporters,

Thank you for all the support. Lathika is now over 100 days after a successful bone marrow transplantation. Unfortunately, she has suffered a few setbacks with seizures and jaundice. These unexpected complications have resulted in hospital expenses that the family has not anticipated. They are focusing on providing the close care she needs including clean food, clean environment and medications to help prevent infections. We are appealing to well wishers to come to our aid again for another 250,000 rupees to help complete her treatment.

We have a great news to share. Lathika is recovering really well. Your contribution has saved her and her family. Thank you for the timely support.

The family has shared their heartfelt gratitude to each of you. They were caught up with various procedures related to her bone marrow transplant and have apologised for the delay in sharing this news.

She will continue to be under observation and medication for a few more months till she is completely recovered. She is eating well and is active.

Your support made this happen. Thank you once again. We will keep you posted on her progress.
