Help Shrijay Undergo Cochlear Implant Surgery

Hello Everyone,

I am writing to you today because i truly believe in you all and know that you will genuinely consider this request. This is about our younger son Shrijay.

When he turned 1.5 years old, we received a shock of our lives when we came to know that Shrijay was diagnosed with Profound hearing loss for both of his ears. It meant that he cannot hear with both his ears to an extent of 100 percent. While this extremely shocking news pulled me and my wife and our family into deep sorrow we didnt waste time and reached out for expert advice by an audiologist.

It was that time when we met several other families with similar children having the same problem of hearing. He has been put into a speech therapy session using hearing aid device on both the ears which we continued for the next few more months which helps stimulate and activate the part of his brain taking care of sound.

We and speech therapy clinic tried for almost 1.5 years with best in the business hearing aids, he is responding well with basic words from short distance but he is unable to hear soft words and from long distance. He doesn’t hear all of it with hearing aids as he has profound to severe loss. Now there is a proven solution for this. Though artificial but it will help him listen to the sounds just like the normal child it is called Hearing implants(cochlear implant). A device that gets implanted into the muscles behind the ear. While the internal device will be implanted life long the external device which acts as a transmitter of the sound is something that he will have to wear externally to hear those sounds.

This device along with Surgery costs around 18 lakhs Rupees for a single ear and 30 lakhs for both the ears if done together at the same time. The surgery at this early stage (3+ years old now) is necessary to help Shrijay develop his skills which are bound to the process of hearing. Any delay in the surgery will only mean that his development as close to a normal child will be delayed and all his further academic and other skills will delay for that period as well.

This hearing defect is by birth and hence not covered under any Mediclaim policy. We, myself and my wife being a middle class family are struck with a huge financial crisis that holds us from taking any further step towards this necessary surgery. As parents we want our child to grow as good as any other normal child would do so. Arranging of funds is not something that we are capable of for such huge amount.

While we are making arrangements by selling some of our personal belongings and raising funds with the help of our relatives the amount is still falling short as we are able to cope up with only 10 lakhs so far. Tried Personal loan but not getting as much is required.

The next challenge is to save for his future needs as this external device keeps upgrading after every few year (4-5 years ) and one device alone would cost around 4 lakhs.

Hence me and my wife sincerely request you to extend your helping hand and support us in this ordeal which will only help our son Shrijay to grow up and lead a normal life.

A small help from each one of you is equivalent to a lifelong ability for our child and a simple thank you will not be enough to express the kind of favor you would do us with any amount that you decide to contribute in this cause!

We as parents of Shrijay will be thankful to you until our last breath and will also let Shrijay know of such great human beings lending their helping hand for overcoming his issues when his parents needed it the most!!

Thanking you in advance for the rest of our lives!

Padmaja & Shrinath

Dear Supporters,

I am grateful to all of for the love and support!

Shrijay is presently at home and doing well. He is using hearing aids and learning to speak set of two words slowly. We need to raise the funds by the end of the month as the doctor is unavailable after the same.

I request you to kindly contribute and share the campaign and help me raise the funds as my son will not be able to hear until he undergoes the  Cochlear Implant Surgery. Thank you all.

Regards,
