It was then that they decided to fly her to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston - one of the most advanced hospitals in the world. Her family has maintained a very extensive documentation of all her tests and exams and reports, that was already forwarded to the doctors in the US.
They took about a week after her landing in Boston, going over her medical reports as well as doing new tests on her. An army of doctors, from Hematology, Neurology, Oncology, Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases practices went over her reports jointly and then they found this extremely rare lymphoma affecting her system. As soon as they found it, they swung into action. The good thing is, Brigham and Women’s Health + Dana Farber hospital, have a research center for the same lymphoma.
Her treatment is going to be aggressive, as she lost 5 crucial months with the condition left misdiagnosed and primary cause left undiagnosed.
Since she is from India, she wont have any insurance to cover her treatment expenses. The family is bearing all the expenses, to ensure that there is no stone left unturned to treat her and help her fight this lymphoma.
Shobha has been a trooper, and has a amazing spirit to live. In a fragile state, she made the long journey to the US in a stretcher in a commercial flight - only looking forward to getting the treatment she so deserves.
Lets help her and her family in this fight.
