In January 2016, I met Raj for the first time. It was like one those arranged marriages where you meet the person and learn more about him. The thing is, we got along very well and I got to know Raj for the extremely humble and wonderful human being he is. On Valentine’s Day that year, Raj gifted me a painting of me. It was such a beautiful painting and no one has ever done that for me. Right at that time, I knew that Raj is my man. I wanted to spend my life with him. In May 2016, we got married and were happy to start a new journey with each other.

Raj is such a good dancer and extremely passionate about art. We both have jobs. He works as a Sr. Graphic Designer and would always wake up before me and wake me up later. Every morning, before he left he would iron my clothes for me without even mentioning it. He always gave me a hug and kiss whenever he would meet me, after or before work. When my legs hurt, he massages them with so much love. I know our marriage was arranged, but we love each other with all our hearts now.

Last year, on Valentine’s Day, my morning was perfect. I woke up to find my room filled with roses, balloons, cards, beautiful lights and some cute toys that I liked. Raj had taken me by surprise and swept me off my feet. We went on road trip that day and it was just perfect. But, who could tell back then that this Valentine’s Day, the love of my life would be in the hospital fighting for his life.  

Just on 27th January (2018), Raj and I were at home and suddenly, he started yelling in pain. It was so random. I don’t know what happened and Raj started collapsing. It was 20 minutes before we received any help and we took him to a local hospital. From nothing, he was so critical and his blood pressure and heartbeats were extremely low. We were told to go to a better hospital because of his serious condition. The doctors told us that they needed 72 hours to find out what had happened to him and if they could save him or not.

Those were the worst 3 days of my life. I was speechless. There were so many tubes in his mouth, which was held wide open. He would get fevers, was on the ventilator and his heart was also assisted artificially and there were big machines around him. It was an utterly atrocious sight and seeing Raj, who was completely normal and healthy, a teetotaler, going through this was nothing but the worst pain I’ve experienced.
We were told that he had a heart attack and his liver and other organs don’t function normally. Right now, he’s better than when we arrived but no one knows when he will open his eyes again. He is unconscious and moves his hands and legs slightly when he’s in pain. He needs to be kept in the ICU, for critical care for a long duration. Including life support, medicines and the room rent, etc., every day, the hospital bills amount to approximately Rs. 1 lakh. I just can’t understand how a perfectly healthy and such a lovable human being can fall so sick.
He always respected me and said, “You are very precious and I will do anything and everything for you”. We were leading a very happy life and Raj, who wouldn’t even hurt a fly, is one of the most lovable human beings in the world.  I really miss him and I don’t know why I’m crying right now but some memories and moments are just very overwhelming. Such a good human being.
I believe that my Raj will come back for me. My love for him is true and I know that he loves me more. My Raj is a lovely man and I know he will recover and we will continue to lead our happy life very soon. He is the love of my life, as I am his.
