Although it is a known fact that life is unpredictable, it is hard to believe until you experience it yourself. My life was almost perfect with a loving husband, a2 year old Mr. Naughty and wonderful parents who came over to Australia to help me as I am going through my second pregnancy. My dad and my son had a special bond and it was hard to say who the kid is when they both are play. That Tuesday morning changed everything for me, life turned upside down.
My dad, my hero who has been the center of my universe has dropped me at the station and drove back like he usually does very morning. While he was in the shower he felt like his left arm was getting curled up and needed help to get it straight, hence called my mum who was cooking downstairs. My mum acted quickly in this situation and called us for help and my husband has called for an ambulance. He was taken to Black town Hospital, where he was diagnosed with stroke and was immediately transferred to West mead Intensive care for further management. He had an intracranial bleed requiring drainage; doctors quite proactively did the surgery in no time. Mum has been inconsolable, confused and dubious. She is worried about me, my unborn baby, and my 2 year old who is constantly trying to understand why grandpa is lying on the bed with tubes in his mouth, why he is not playing with him, why he is not taking him to park.
Dad suffered a major hemorrhagic stroke on R side, which might affect his Left side or the extent of paralysis is not known until dad opens his eyes and attempts to obey commands. He spent 21 days in ICU .Doctors said that it’s a long road towards recovery and warned me that stroke might affect speech, sight and movement as it was a big bleed. My parents being the visitors to the country I have taken a health cover which covers them for 70,000$. It costed 6000$ per night in ICU. I do not know what to worry about anymore-financial situation, dad’s condition or mum's unasked questions.
I know that whatever does not kill you makes you strong; hence, I have prepared to fight back with situation and chose to be strong. Rather than shedding tears and feel helpless, I have decided to ask for help, this is a situation, which is bigger than my wages and me and cannot thank those friends enough, who have exhausted their pockets as well in attempt to help us. I still need help to tackle the big bills, provide hospital care and rehabilitation for my dad. Doctors are not happy to send him to India yet as he is not stable enough to travel. Hence, I am asking all of you to generously donate to my Milaap page, your donations will enable me to provide the care my dad, my hero needs.
