Fulfilling our destinies isn't always a piece of cake. Everyone faces challenges along the way. For some, motivation might be a huge challenge. For a few others, lack of clarity might be a problem.
But for over 250 starry-eyed students of Hadapsar's Ideal English Medium School, the constraints are entirely financial. Ideal EMS is a low-income private school in Maharashtra's Pune, and Sayyed Nagar, the community that these children hail from, has remained economically backward since the last 10 years.
However, lack of financial support never stopped our children from pursuing excellence in life. From winning nationwide football championships (conducted by Just for Kicks) to acing debating tournaments such as the Model United Nations, and organizing science and history exhibitions, our children have blossomed into student leaders and displayed values such as perseverance and curiosity repeatedly.
In June, our students will step into a new academic year with bags full of textbooks and hearts full of hope. However, this crippling financial deficit is threatening to crush the beautiful dreams of our children in the long run.
To become the leaders that they aspire to be, our students need help. We need books for the school library, speakers and projectors to aid audio-visual learning, and logistical support to help students travel to tournaments and experience the real world.
These resources will go a long way in helping them gain knowledge, values and mindsets that they need to fulfill their destinies.
We, as teachers of these talented children, have a humble request for you.
If the never-ceasing spirit of our children speaks to you, kindly contribute towards our cause. Help them think, read, write and explore. Help them move a little closer towards their dreams. Help them channel their inner superhero. Dear reader, the ball’s now in your court.
