    Gurukool Kids

    from Gurgaon

Antarmanh Foundation works with underserved children and supports NGOs working in areas of health, education and skill development. In the last two years, the foundation has impacted 15,000 lives.

One such NGO supported by Antarmanh Foundation is Gurukool Kids. To know more, please visit http://antarmanhfoundation.org/.

Gurukool Kids:

Gurukool kids is a non-profit organisation and provides education and holistic skill development to underserved children. Their vision is to bring progressive social change by providing quality education to less privileged through integrated methods of teaching.

More about the NGO can be read here: http://www.gurukoolkids.org/

Challenges faced by Gurukool Kids:

At Gurukool kids, 200 underserved children from Gurgaon are currently being provided education free of cost. Their parents are mostly migrants and are working as domestic helpers, guards and daily wage labourers.

Key challenges faced by the school are:
  1. To excite children to happily engage in learning and channelise their energy into something creative
  2. To personalise delivery of content as per the grade and learning level of each child so that they can be enrolled into formal schools
  3. To empower the girl child to become self reliant, confident and strong

Proposed Solution - TABLAB (Tablet based e-learning lab)

Antarmanh Foundation is collaborating with iDream Education to set up TABLAB - a tablet based enjoyable, interactive and personalised digital learning solution. It will have following components:
  1. 20 educational tablets (7 inch Lenovo tablets) with screen guard and a protective cover
  2. Multimedia animated content in Hindi medium for Math and Science as per Haryana State Board
  3. Activity videos and digital books
  4. Student wise usage and learning reporting platform
Benefits of TABLAB for Gurukool Kids:

  1. With tablets directly in the hands of the children, the touch and play feature will happily engage them to use the device regularly
  2. Multiple categories of play way content in local language will make learning fun and enjoyable
  3. Each child will have a unique log in thereby making learning personalised
  4. Learning tablets do not differentiate between gender. Each child gets equal opportunity to learn and express themselves
  5. The learning platform captures student wise usage and learning data which will help teachers to truly personalise learning for each child
Funding Support:

The total cost of setting up a 20 tablet TABLAB is Rs. 4.25 Lakhs. We are raising funding of Rs. 2,25,000 towards setting up a TABALB with components as mentioned above. The rest of the funding will be supported by iDream Education towards content, monitoring, support and hardware maintenance.

What would the donor get:

Each donor will get six monthly usage and learning report so that they can see the progress made by the children.

If you donate any amount equal to or more than Rs. 25,000, we will share with you a log in to our cloud dashboard so that you can track the progress of the project on a real time basis.

If you donate any amount equal to or more than Rs. 50,000, apart from sharing a real time cloud dashboard, we will also provide you with branding with a mention of your name or of your organisation on all TABLAB collaterals.

Over the years, TABLAB has had transformational impact in the way underserved students learn. Here’s a short video of Nikhil who self taught himself from his tablet to build a working fan:

Here’s another story of Nisha, a government school kid from Rajasthan who rediscovered her passion for reading through the digital books section on her tablet: http://www.idreameducation.org/blog/story-nisha-girl-loved-reading-books/
