I am a retired forest officer. I served the Maharashtra Forest Department for 28 years and then took a voluntary retirement from the Department in 2011. I also worked with WWF while I was on sabbatical from the forest department.

While I was working with WWF, I went to Russia on an educational trip. It was on a trip to Russia that had been organised by WWF that I caught Hepatitis E. The doctors at Nagpur who were treating me couldn’t understand what strain of Hepatitis had infected me which probably resulting in incorrect treatment. My liver was substantially damaged as it developed cirrhosis. I was brought to Mumbai by my friends and have been under Dr. Samir Shah’s treatment ever since I came to Mumbai which has been more than five years. It was suggested to me some years ago that I should undergo a liver transplant. Due to financial constraints I couldn’t undergo the transplant and managed to live almost normal life with all the precautions that the doctor had asked me to take. Recently suddenly I developed ascites and my liver has started showing signs of degeneration. Now transplant has become a must. I cannot live long with my damaged liver. The total cost of transplant is approximately 20-25 lakhs

I am Honorary Director with two companies, a section 25 company Wildlife and We Protection Foundation and another company SATS Integrated Conservation Solutions Pvt Ltd. However being the Director I am not entitled to any benefits from the company. Secondly these companies are very small hence they cannot provide any financial help to me. I have no family and my only source of income is my pension which is not enough to let me undergo the transplant without financial help from other people. I am at the top of the list of organ recipient from cadaver in this region hence need financial help urgently
