A fatal condition at birth:

When Dimple was just born, the doctor recommended that they rush her to a bigger hospital. She was diagnosed with a heart condition called PDA (Patent Ductus Artriosus) due to which she had multiple holes in her heart. Her parents, Pappu, a daily wage worker and Suman, a simple housewife were scared and lost, not knowing how to cope with a situation they could not have foreseen in their worst dreams.

The present condition:

Normally the heart's left side only pumps blood to the body, and the right side only pumps blood to the lungs. But in Dimple’s Case, due to her hole (PDA) the extra blood being pumped into the lung arteries makes the heart and lungs work harder and the lungs can become congested. Due to her illness, she breathes faster and harder than normal and not growing as per the growth & standards of her age.

The Threat

If the hole remains open, it may cause permanent damage to the lung blood vessels, thus causing severe damage.

The Struggle:

Pappu is a daily wage labourer and makes Rs. 200 a day when he can find work.
"Dimple needs constant medical attention. She keeps falling ill at least once every 10-12 days. Under these circumstances I need to be around to be able to rush her to the hospital. How can I go to work then, and if I don't go, there is no money to even buy food. I have to pay my rent, and fend for my other two daughters as well. I get medicines for free sometimes if they are available. Other times, I don't even have money to buy her the medicines."

The Solution:

A device closure has been recommended, and this would be a permanent solution to the issue. Dimple can lead a normal life post this procedure, without years of medication, and a constant threat from physical activities.

How you can help:

Pappu cannot leave Dimple's side due to her present condition. Due to his inability to go to work, there is no money in their house.
"We don't even have money to eat. I want to give my daughters so much in life, but here I'm unable to even satisfy their basic needs," Pappu's helplessness is clear in his voice.
The procedure would cost them Rs. 2 Lakh. Needless to say, the amount is way beyond what Pappu can arrange. A small contribution on your end can help a father save his girl-child.
